Welcome To Our Parish of St John Vianney
Welcome To OurParish of St John Vianney

Father Matthew Nunes - Parish Priest

Many will probably be wondering: ‘Which of those priests from Widnes is he?’ Well, just a little bit longer until the puzzle will be solved! Before I knew I was to be moving from Widnes I had arranged to be away on holiday in September, so as a consequence I won’t be in Halewood until the weekend of 1st/2nd October. In the meantime I am very grateful to my brother priests from Widnes and elsewhere who will be covering the Masses here in Halewood.

At the moment I am up to my eyes in boxes, rubbish, recycling, etc. So I’m caught up in all the very practical stuff of moving home, while at the same time saying goodbye to St Wilfrid’s, Widnes and wondering about the future with all that that will bring both here in Halewood and with the Pastoral Formation Department of the Archdiocese.

I am very much looking forward to settling into life in Halewood and for us to get to know each other. It was great to be able to say hello to parishioners in Lourdes in July during the Archdiocesan pilgrimage. And I have always been very happy over this last year or so to be able to cover the occasional Mass for Fr Vin. All of which means that in coming to Halewood it doesn’t feel like I am stepping into the complete unknown.

Until October then, may I wish you all every blessing and ask you please to keep me in your prayers, as I hold you in mine, as we take up the continuing journey of seeking to understand what the Lord is asking of each of us in living as disciples today.
